Your base for this very unique Scottish adventure vacation and culinary experience is Cairnbaan a traditional Scottish village located in Kilmartin Glen in Argyll a remote region of Western Scotland. Cairnbaan is about 2 hours travel from Glasgow and is situated on the banks of the famous and historical Crinan Canal, 5 minutes from the Sound of Jura, the famous whiskey island and 30 miles south of Oban, the home of the world famous Oban 14 year old single malt whiskey. On the doorstep there are a wide variety of locations for the included activities: Sea kayaking, walking, cycling. The local area is rich in historical significance, it has two marine nature reserves and of course, is also ideal for relaxing.
Accommodation: Your accommodation for this vacation: You will be provided with the sole and private use of a traditional and charming Scottish country cottage situated on the banks of the Crinan Canal. This cottage has all modern amenities, sitting room, TV, WIFI internet, kitchen, shower and garden overlooking the canal and surrounding countryside. The cottage has 2 bedrooms and a studio bedroom on the 3rd floor. The cottage can accomodate 1 couple, 2 friends, 2 couples, or 4 friends. Bedroom one has 1 double bed, bedroom 2 has 1 double bed and the studio bedroom has a convertible sofa bed.
Due to the exclusive nature of your own personalized vacation, the maximum number of guest participation for this adventure and culinary vacation week is 4 persons.
Guiding: Your personal guide and host for this vacation is Brian Gibbons. Brian will provide you with his expertise during your stay to make your vacation safe, fun and memorable. Brian will be your personal guide throughout your holiday from arrival to departure!

The adventure is planned for arrivals between March 31st to November 30, 2012, and are subject to availability.
Depending on your chosen month of travel your experience will vary! From early May to late July, daylight in Western Scotland remains until around 11:30 pm. This will not affect the course inclusions, but may assist you in planning your trip dates to your own preferences. Scotland offers fantastic visitor experiences during all the seasons and dates that this vacation is available.
This holiday is operated and provided on a flexible arrival day basis, you can arrive any day that suits you (subject to availability).
All itinerary items shown on daily itineraries will be provided but some alterations to the specific daily activities may be required depending on what day of the week you choose to arrive, i.e. adverse weather, etc. The itinerary can be altered to suit your individual preferences, for example, you may choose more or less sea kayaking.
On arrival you will be met at Glasgow airport (GLA) and taken by private transfer to your holiday base for the 7 nights. You can spend a couple of hours relaxing – you will then be accompanied to dinner at the Cairnbaan Coach
house situated on the banks of the Crinan canal. During dinner a full informal and introductory meeting will take place to discuss your weeks itinerary.
After breakfast, your first day of sea kayaking begins with an introductory days paddling, this will be in a
sheltered sea loch area. After you arrive back at the cottage and relax a bit you will be collected and accompanied to
dinner at the Tayvallich Inn a 15 minute drive away. Tayvallich Inn is located on the shores of Loch Sween
Today you will experience for a full day of sea kayaking; various choices and locations will be discussed with
you – arriving back late afternoon or early evening. For dinner you will again be collected and accompanied for a
visit to Kilmartin House hotel, located in the heart of historical Kilmartin valley.
Today will be a cycle day; you will visit Carnasserie Castle and Kilmartin Museum in the morning, followed by
an afternoon cycle through the forest towards Tayvallich and Loch Sween, arriving back early evening and then heading out for dinner to the nearby Horsehoe Inn or another local location.
Morning after breakfast we will head towards Oban and visit the famous Oban distillery, after lunch, a further
Sea kayaking trip will take place in the Oban area. On the way back to your cottage we will stop off for dinner at the
Culphail House or the Croabh Haven Restaurant located on the shores of Loch Melfort.
In the morning we will explore the local area by foot heading off for a 3 to 4 hour walk. In the afternoon we will
explore Loch Fyne for an afternoon sea kayaking trip. For dinner we will visit Loch Fyne Oyster Restaurant.
Today is left open for you to decide if you prefer sea kayaking, cycling, walking or you may wish to visit other
attractions. Tonight’s dinner will be at the cottage where we will cook fresh mussels and smoke our own fresh Scottish salmon, accompanied by some local Scottish drinks, others may join us for dinner.
After breakfast you will be taken by private transfer back to Glasgow airport for your trip home or onward

Additional Travel Information
Arrival – Your holiday starts with your chosen arrival day where you will be met and collected from Glasgow
International airport [GLA]. You will then be taken by private transfer to Cairnbaan cottage the base for your holiday.
Your arrival time is also flexible and can be anytime between 10 am and 4 pm. Arrival outside these times is possible but requires prior consultation during booking confirmation.
Departure, you will be returned by private transfer to Glasgow International airport for your onward connections. Further detailed travel assistance will be provided at time of booking or inquiry.
